The planned food catalog begins with Open Food Facts. Cosmetics require both a product catalog and a separate ingredient and regulatory evidence layer; no single public dataset supplies a complete health verdict.

Licensing and freshness
Open Food Facts and Open Beauty Facts use the Open Database License. Production use must preserve attribution, meet share-alike obligations and distinguish database licensing from product-image licensing. Each result will show source and last update.

Does Scanly own the Open Food Facts data?
No. Open Food Facts is a community project. Reused records remain attributed and subject to its license.
Can community data be wrong?
Yes. That is why the product must expose freshness and completeness, accept corrections and remind users to verify critical information against the package.
